Shocking As Cultists behead Police DPO in Rivers
Cultists operating in Ahoada, Rivers State, have brutally killed and beheaded District Police Officer (DPO) Bako Angbashim. The tragic incident occurred in Odumude Community, Ahoada East Local Government Area. DPO Bako was known for his dedication to combating cultism, kidnapping, and violence in the state.
He had previously served at Bori Police Divisional Headquarters in Khana LGA, successfully restoring order in the area. This year, he was deployed to Ahoada communities plagued by ruthless cultists in an effort to eliminate them.
Residents in the area were reportedly warned by the cultists not to report any criminal activities to security agencies. DPO Bako had intensified efforts against the cultists, dismantling their camps and convincing some cult leaders to surrender their weapons.
However, on Friday, the cultists, aided by a spiritualist, regrouped and ambushed Bako in the forest, leading to his tragic death.
The Rivers State Police Command has described the incident as unfortunate and vowed to bring the culprits to justice. The spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that DPO Bako displayed exemplary courage during a mission against cultists in the Odumude Area of Ahoada.
In the face of adversity, he and his team were ambushed by criminals, resulting in his fatal injuries. Efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators, and investigations are underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident. The police force expressed condolences to DPO Bako’s family and all those affected by this distressing event.
