One killed and six arrested as students clash in Katsina over a female schoolmate
A tragic incident occurred at the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) in Katsina State, where a 200-level student from the Computer Science Department named Abubakar lost his life in a clash among students related to a romantic involvement with a fellow female student.
The spokesperson for the state police command, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident, stating that it involved eight university students and happened in Darawa quarters, Dutsinma LGA, Katsina State, around 1:20 pm on a Thursday. He explained that the conflict began as a heated argument among the students, which eventually escalated, resulting in the death of one of them. The police are treating this matter seriously and are currently conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the full details of the incident.
The police are diligently collecting and analyzing all available evidence, including statements from eyewitnesses, to gain a comprehensive understanding of the sequence of events. They emphasize their commitment to ensuring justice and fairness throughout the investigation.
Furthermore, the police have denied claims circulating on social media that the student’s tragic death was related to religious differences and urge the public to disregard any rumors or misconceptions regarding the incident.
