Police stops an armed robbery operation, apprehends 14 suspects for vandalism and illegal drug trade in Jigawa(photos)

The Jigawa State Police Command successfully thwarted an armed robbery attempt in the Kazaure Local Government Area and apprehended fourteen individuals involved in acts of vandalism and drug abuse. According to ASP Abubakar Isah, the deputy spokesperson of the command, the suspects were found in possession of stolen motor vehicles, cable wire, and illegal drugs.

The incident began with a distress call received by the Kazaure Police Station on September 29, 2023, at around 3:30 AM. The call reported that suspected armed robbers were seen trespassing into the residence of a 28-year-old individual named Bello Aliyu in Yanmakada quarters, Kazaure LGA. Upon receiving the report, a patrol team from the Kazaure division swiftly responded to the scene, causing the culprits to flee. Bello Aliyu was found tied up, and he reported that the robbers forcibly took his Mercedes Benz vehicle (registration number BWA 447 DA) and loaded it with various household items.

The stolen items left behind by the suspects included a motor vehicle, a Samsung phone, a television, two speakers, a DSTV receiver, a laptop, a Peugeot car key, two pairs of women’s shoes, two caps, and clothing. Additionally, the fleeing culprits abandoned a jackknife, a steering lock, two flashlights, two pairs of rubber slippers, a rope, and a blue face cap with the inscription “commissioner.” Bello Aliyu also mentioned that his Mercedes Benz ignition key, one Tecno phone, and one Nokia phone were still missing, and efforts to apprehend the robbers were ongoing.

Furthermore, on September 20, 2023, at approximately 2:30 AM, a distress call was received by the B/Kudu Police Station regarding a group of individuals, numbering about eight, armed with sticks and machetes, who had invaded the Majestic Rice Mills Company. They had tied up the security guards and vandalized armored cables. Upon receiving the report, the police mobilized and arrived at the scene, where they arrested one suspect, Tanimu Adamu, a 28-year-old from Dangoro Kumbotso LGA, Kano State. The remaining suspects and their vehicle fled to an unknown location. The vandalized cables and a vivo phone were recovered from the scene. Tanimu Adamu confessed to the crime and efforts were underway to apprehend the other fleeing suspects.

As part of the operation, raids were conducted at the Bamaina, Kazaure, and Gumel Divisional Police Headquarters, resulting in the arrest of fourteen additional suspects and the recovery of various exhibits;

√ Sixty-five (65) raps of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp

√ Twenty-one (21) pieces of Diazepam tablets

√ Twenty-one (21) pieces of D5 tablets

√ Twenty (20) pieces of tramadol tablets

√ One (1) Bottle of suck and die

√ One (1) Rubber solution.

The suspects will be arraigned in court upon completion of investigation at SCID Dutse.
