Vandal in Rivers Community Electrocuted While Tampering with Transformer (Video)
In the Oyigbo local government area of Rivers State, an unidentified individual met a tragic end as he was electrocuted while attempting to vandalize a transformer. The incident unfolded on the morning of Thursday, November 2, 2023, when the lifeless body of the suspected vandal was discovered lying in close proximity to the transformer, his tools scattered around him.
A witness on the scene recounted that the now-deceased man, along with an accomplice, had targeted electrical wire installations on a transformer located in a residential area commonly referred to as Happy Life Street. This illegal activity took place in the early hours of the morning, around 3 a.m.
The unfortunate turn of events can be attributed to a stroke of bad luck. The witness explained that, unbeknownst to the deceased, the Port-Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) had restored power to Oyigbo at midnight, catching the vandal in the act of disconnecting cables, ultimately leading to the fatal electrocution.
