Youth corps member goes viral for using NYSC allowance to fund projects for Ibadan school

A youth corps member has gone viral after using her personal NYSC allowance to fund projects for a community school in Ibadan.
In a heartfelt post shared on X (formerly Twitter), she recounted her experience, detailing how, during her service year, she built several projects for the school.
As many others were sharing their own NYSC experiences on social media, she shared photos of the completed projects and explained that what started as a plan to dig a well for the school grew into a larger initiative.

Despite the criticism she faced from friends who called her foolish for spending so much of her allowance, she expressed pride in what she had achieved.
Her statement read: “I did 4 personal projects during my NYSC in Ibadan and received a meritorious award 🙈… but my friends think I was foolish to have wasted so much money. After NYSC, I didn’t have 100k to my name for a while, but I’m pleased I did all I did.”
She went on to explain that the school’s principal, students, and local landlords convinced her to not only dig the well but also build a scaffold, which now serves as both a storage space and a community resource.
