Bombs Planted By Bandits On Zamfara Road Kill Six Passengers, Injure 8

Bombs planted by terrorists, locally dubbed as bandits, have killed six persons while injuring eight others in Zamfara State.

The bandits on Wednesday planted a fresh set of explosives around Mai Lamba axis along the Dansadau-Gusau road under the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara state.

The explosives led to death of travellers who were plying that route, Channels TV reports.

It was reported that the lifeless bodies were seen by the roadside as a result of the incident.

Residents of Dansadau explained that the suspected terrorists planted the explosives along the road that connects Dansadau to other parts of the state.

Abdullahi Dansadau, a resident of the area said a Volkswagen Golf 3 vehicle stepped off the planted bomb and exploded, killing six persons and injuring eight others.

“It was this morning, one golf 3 vehicle stepped on the bomb and exploded, we have six dead bodies here now and eight others sustained injuries, the vehicle was destroyed completely.”

Confirming the development, the Commander of 1 Brigade Nigerian Army Gusau, Brig Gen Timothy Opurum, while confirming the incident, said he instructed troops of Operation Fansan Yamma to the scene of the Incident for assessment.

“That was what I heard too but I don’t have details, I have instructed the troops to go there for assessment,” he said.

Bandits have continued to terrorise Zamfara with many killed and several properties destroyed by their action.
