“Some of you will be second, third or fourth wives and there’s nothing you can do about it” – Nigerian lawyer says
A Nigerian lawyer, Rilwan Oke, has said that some women will end up as second, third and fourth wives whether they like it or not.
He stated this on X while reacting to backlash against one Aisha, who is said to be the second wife of X influencer, Suraj Oyewale aka Sir Jarus.
It will be recalled that Sir Jarus admitted to beating his first wife because she tried to stop him from taking a second wife by getting help from a “Cele prophet”.
“Some of you will be Second, Third or Fourth Wives and there’s nothing you can do about it,” the lawyer wrote.
“Suddenly, a woman’s choice is no longer important because she made a choice y’all don’t agree with? She chooses to be a Second Wife, what’s anyone’s business with that? She should have conducted an opinion poll among y’all to make a decision for herself? Whatever issues Sir J had with his first wife was literally out of Aisha’s control. So, why are you lots bullying her?”
Oke, a Lagos-based lawyer, played an important role in the release of several detainees during the October 2020 EndSARS protest.
