Man accuses Uber, Bolt drivers of working with police to extort passengers


A Nigerian man has made strong allegations against the police, claiming that Uber and Bolt drivers, as well as cab drivers, provide police officers with information about their passengers, enabling them to stop, search, and extort money from them.
In a viral post on X, formerly Twitter, the man accused ride-hailing and cab drivers of working with the police to target unsuspecting passengers.
He stated in part: “These Uber and Bolt drivers in Lagos, and cab drivers across Nigeria, who tip off the police— you pick up a young passenger, and the next thing, you’re on your phone, sending information to the police.”
