School allegedly expels student after parent refuses to pay ₦15k party fee

A school identified as Aunty Joy has allegedly expelled a student after the parent refused to pay a ₦15,000 party fee and voiced complaints about it.

This was revealed in a post shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where the mother of the child could be heard expressing her frustration over the situation.

According to her, the school provided two separate accounts—one for tuition and another for the party levy. Uninterested in the party, she chose to pay only her child’s tuition.

However, the school reportedly used the money for the party instead, issued a receipt for the levy, and applied the remaining balance to the tuition.

Demanding accountability, the woman stormed the school to complain.

In response, she claimed, her child was expelled, locked out along with his books, and the teachers were instructed to prevent her from entering the school premises.

While protesting outside the school gate, she said: “The management of Aunty Joy School told the teachers to give me back my school fees. They said they’re chasing my kids out because I complained and refused to pay for the party.”

“We were given different accounts for tuition and party fees. We paid for tuition, but they issued a party levy receipt instead. Now they’ve asked the teachers to bring my child’s things out because we complained about the ₦15,000 party fee.”
