The spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, has reacted to  reports of young lady facing severe blackmail and sextortion by a man threatening to expose her private images.

An X user had raised the alarm. He claimed that the suspected blackmailer had reached out to the young lady residing in Umuahia, Abia state via her Facebook account with claims that he has her private images and will release them if she doesn’t pay a certain amount of money. The blackmailer had shared photos of some persons he claims the victim knows with threats he will send it to them if she failed to comply. The X user claims that the incident has left the victim suicidal.

Reacting via his X handle, Muyiwa stated that sextortion is a crime punishable under the law. Adejobi asked the victim to reach out to the police so the matter can be addressed effectively.
